Money Heist
Review
I watched the first, I don't even know, season(?) of this show a while ago. My confusion in how it's divided stems from the odd things Netflix did where we totally recut the show. I've never seen such a thing before (so far as I'm aware). But I think in general we end at the same point. I believe the show covers two main heists. Where the show originally ended on the bank heist but got brought back for some other one. I have not seen the other one, just the bank heist.
I feel conflicted about the show. I think I wanted it to be more grounded and realistic. But that's really not what it is. When you think of the show through the lens of "this is a soap opera", it's honestly pretty good. Fun, snappy, constantly pulling the rug. It does what you would want from such light fair. It's mostly my desire for it to be a bit deeper that gets in my own way of enjoying the show. I think it was just advertised to me wrong. I saw it on Reddit a number of times in conversation with the other premier Netflix shows (House of Cards, Dark, Squid Game, etc). Shows that tended to have more of a drama focus. Again, that really is not what Money Heist is about. Yes, there is drama. But it's through an exaggerated and humorous lens. It's well over-the-top. I didn't know that going in and I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had.
I did enjoy all our thieves. They're charismatic and fun to watch and make me root for them over the vile bankers and policemen. We really play up their villainy. To the point of real absurdity, but it's whatever. Might at some point watch the rest of the show. But I think it ended at a perfectly fine point as is.
