The Prisoner

Review

Very fun. No idea how I had never seen or heard anything about the Prisoner before. At one point I was scrolling through a wikipedia page of the best shows of all time and I came across this one. Saw that it was an inspiration for Twin Peaks and my curiosity was immediately peaked. We ended up watching this as a palette cleanser in between season of House. British TV for ya.

The show is generally quite good. I think, even being only 17 episodes, there's probably 2 or 3 of those that could be dropped and it would be a lot stronger for it. When we're really in the episodic thick of it and not moving along the meta-story at all. There's a couple in there that I wouldn't necessarily say are bad. Number Six is always a joy to watch. But we're going through the rhythms a bit. Loved the last couple episodes, though. Particularly Once Upon a Time and Fall Out. Once Upon a Time was reminding me a lot of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf in the best way. Love when we start doing that high drama, confined setting stuff. The episode stripped the show back to its most basics. And Fall Out did a good job summing up all the wider themes of the show. Shit was crazy for the 60s. We're not that far off from end of Twin Peaks S2 in the red room.
