Over the Garden Wall
Review
I think Over the Garden Wall would've been a definite favorite, had I seen it when I was a child. I did not, however. I saw it as an adult. And while there were aspects of it that I found enjoyable. The aesthetic, Autumn's magic that brings with it melancholy and contemplation. I nonetheless wasn't overly interested. It's fine. I think there's some adults that are far more willing to let children's shows into their lives. I just don't think there's enough there for me. Everything with the Beast is genuinely great. There's individual episodes that I can pick out and say that I unreservedly enjoy. The harvest fest one with the pumpkin guy. The one with the witch in the house. The last episode or two. But we just stray a bit too close to frolic-time meadows for me. Wish it had come out 15 years earlier! Woulda been my jam! As is, something that was fine to put on, but I don't have a rewatch in me. I do really appreciate that it was a defined miniseries. A quick little enjoyable jaunt. Something that I could definitely see replaying each year when October rolls around.
